Aisha (radi Allahu anha) said: "The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) used to talk to us and we would talk to him. But when the time for prayer started, he would act as if he did not know us or if we did not know him."
Suppose you are conversing with a friend and suddenly the most important person in the world to you shows up on your doorstep. How quickly would you end your conversation? It would be barely a sentence that would rush out of your mouth to excuse yourself and off you'd be to attend to your VIP.
This is how the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was with the prayer.
The time of prayer is Allah's (subhana wa ta'ala) call, His knock on the door, and His Messenger would leave everything behind to rush to meet Him.
